Matt has spent his legal career counseling businesses in a wide variety of industries and stages of development. He is an expert resource for Safeguard’s partner companies.

As Corporate Counsel at Safeguard, Matt provides legal advice with respect to Safeguard’s public company reporting, finance, board activities and operational matters and he supervises the legal processes around deploying capital into new and existing partner companies.

Prior to joining Safeguard, Matt was an associate in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office of Duane Morris, LLP, where his practice was concentrated in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity, general corporate law and securities regulation. Matt represented many entrepreneurs, emerging companies, public companies and investors in various matters, including organizational and structuring matters, equity and debt financing arrangements and commercial agreements. Matt also advised company management and boards of directors on various corporate governance matters. Prior to joining Duane Morris, LLP, Matt was an associate in the corporate and securities department at Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg LLP.

Matt graduated from the Penn State University Smeal College of Business with a B.S. in Finance and he received his J.D. from the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law and his M.B.A. from the Temple University Fox School of Business.
