Powering a Transformation in Health Care

Posted by | January 11, 2016

The Health Care Innovation Collaborative (“Collaborative”) is days away from closing its “Open Call” for applications for ideas that tackle problems associated with ‘chronic disease’.

According to a press release that the CEO Council for Corporate Growth (“CEO Council”)—an initiative of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce—issued earlier today, the Collaborative has received 28 applications and has 107 additional applications in progress. Submissions will be accepted through Friday, January 15, 2016.

How does it work?

Ideas can be submitted through the Greater Than web portal, which is managed by the CEO Council. Applicants must submit a brief proposal following the online guidelines.

NOTE: Applicants do not need to be in the Greater Philadelphia region. Submissions are welcome from individuals as well as companies, domestic and international.

Starting January 16, 2016, the Collaborative will conduct initial screenings of applicant submissions to prioritize internal resource reviews.

Priority will be given to those applicants that represent opportunities to reduce costs tied to health care, potentially benefit patients or health care consumers, and have a positive impact on one or more socioeconomically disadvantaged population.

Then, starting February 11, 2016, each Collaborative member will determine whether to proceed with a particular applicant’s project based on a review of both the proposed innovation and the internal resources required. In the event more than one Collaborative company seeks to work with the same applicant on the same or different projects, the applicant will be notified and a call or meeting convened so that the best approach can be determined.

Upon completion of initial screenings and initial resource reviews, the Collaborative will notify all applicants of the status of their submission beginning March 16, 2016.

Following notification, applicants will work with the Collaborative company (or companies) to find mutually agreeable terms under which the Collaborative company would support the project.
