I am humbled by today’s news that I have been named by the Safeguard Scientifics Board of Directors as Chief Executive Officer. I am energized by the opportunity to continue to work with the Safeguard team to build additional value for our partner companies and our shareholders.
For the past seven years, Peter Boni has been the primary architect of Safeguard’s revitalization. He refocused the company following the dot-com bust to become, once again, the preferred catalyst for business growth and value creation.
This transition was part of a succession plan to ensure the continued execution of a strategy that has been so effective during Peter’s tenure. The recent exits of Avid Radiopharmaceuticals, Advanced BioHealing, Portico Systems and Clarient have demonstrated the wisdom of a strategy envisioned by Peter, executed by our team, highly valued by shareholders and now entrusted to me and the management team going forward.
We will miss Peter and his vision, knowledge, leadership and experience. Having worked with Peter for the better part of a decade, I am confident that he has prepared us well and that now is the perfect time for this transition. We wish Peter much success in his future endeavors.
