Week in Review: Safeguard Scientifics Wins ‘Investment Deal of the Year’ from PACT

The PACT Enterprise Awards black-tie gala was held at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue last night. PACT celebrates achievement, innovation, and success in the Greater Philadelphia region. Safeguard was in attendance as a nominee for Investment Deal of the Year for Shire’s $750 million acquisition of Advanced BioHealing.

And the winner was… Safeguard! This was our second PACT award in a row for ‘Investment Deal of the Year’. Watch Safeguard’s President and CEO, Peter J. Boni, accept the award below:

In other Safeguard news, our own Phil Moyer headlined the Mobile Monday Mid-Atlantic panel at Philly Tech Week, where he noted the potential for startups to claim a significant stake in the mobile world in its many incarnations, from phones and tablets to the Internet of Things.

Outside of Philadelphia, our life sciences team has been busy with the New York Digital Health Accelerator (NYDHA). The new Digital Health Accelerator program’s goal is to foster health IT innovation and create the next generation of healthcare tools. NYDHA is supported by Safeguard Scientifics along with other venture firms and local health providers, such as Aetna, New Leaf Venture Partners, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and NYU Langone Medical Center.
