NFTE Philadelphia Visionary Gala 2010: Honoring Those Who Give Back

Posted by | November 10, 2010

A few months ago, I wrote about a partnership that means a great deal to me and to my colleagues at Safeguard Scientifics — the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). NFTE’s mission is to provide programs that inspire young people from low-income communities to stay in school, to recognize business opportunities and to plan for successful futures. With more than 1,500 students enrolled in the Greater Philadelphia region from approximately 24 different schools, NFTE Philadelphia is quickly becoming engrained in our area’s academic and business communities.

This is why I’m proud to announce that at this year’s Visionary Gala, we’ll be joined by Philadelphia’s Mayor Michael Nutter and over 300 guests to mark the achievements and progress made by NFTE Philadelphia. In addition, we’ll be honoring Dr. Arlene C. Ackerman, Superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia; Osagie Imasogie, Senior Managing Partner of Phoenix IP Ventures, and Robert E. Keith, Jr., Managing Director of TL Ventures, for their leadership and service to the program.

Dr. Ackerman will receive the 2010 Outstanding Community Service Award for her commitment to education and her support of youth entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, Mr. Imasogie and Mr. Keith will be presented with Visionary Awards for their dedication to innovation, entrepreneurship, and their efforts to help young people advance their career through education. NFTE would not be the success that it is today without the support from local business and educational leaders.

NFTE Philadelphia’s Visionary Gala 2010 will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Cescaphé, 923 North 2nd Street, Philadelphia. The reception begins at 6 p.m. EST, followed by dinner and an awards ceremony. If you’re interested in joining us, please RSVP at philadelphia.nfte.com/gala2010.
