Ed’s professional finance foundation and extensive knowledge of technical accounting is built on years of substantive and internal control audit experience at a Big 4 accounting firm. His experience has provided him with the necessary tools to understand complex client issues facing SEC registrants and those organizations in a pre-IPO or early stage environment in order to bring about resolution.

At Safeguard, Ed is responsible for managing the Company’s accounting function, which includes general corporate close responsibilities and compilation of all SEC filings. In addition, Ed leads financial due diligence processes for Safeguard’s acquisitions and capital deployments including subsequent valuation efforts for purchase accounting purposes.

Ed’s experience also includes drafting of initial registration statements, preparation of technical accounting memoranda, SEC comment letter and FASB exposure draft responses, external bank reporting and covenant compliance, XBRL tagging and compliance, as well as the compilation and filing of current, annual and quarterly reports.

Prior to joining Safeguard, Ed was a Manager in Smart Devine’s Accounting and Business Advisory Services Practice. Prior to Smart Devine, Ed served as the Senior External Reporting Analyst at Trinseo, a world leader in the production of plastics, latex and rubber; and served as the Senior SEC Reporting and Equity Administration Accountant for LECG, a global expert services and consulting firm. Ed began his career by spending over four years at Ernst & Young in its audit practice.

Ed graduated from Bucknell University with a B.S. in Business Administration and Accounting and received his Master of Taxation from Villanova University.
