Dennis H. Langer, MD, JD — Independent Director and Investor

Currently, Dr. Langer is a member of the Board of Directors of Myriad Genetics, Inc., Myrexis, Inc., and Dicerna Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (a private company in which he is also an investor). Previously, Dr. Langer has been a Director of Sirna Therapeutics, Inc. (acquired by Merck and Co., Inc.), Transkaryotic Therapies, Inc. (acquired by Shire plc), Pharmacopeia, Inc., (acquired by Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Inc.), Cytogen Corporation (acquired by EUSA Pharma), Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Ception Therapeutics, Inc. (which he co-founded and initially co-financed, and which was acquired by Cephalon, Inc.). Through Phoenix IP Ventures, LLC, of which he was Managing Partner, Dr. Langer also co-founded and was a Director of Iroko Pharmaceuticals, LLC, a specialty pharmaceutical company that markets four products worldwide that were acquired from Merck and Lilly.

From 1994-2004, Dr. Langer was a Senior Vice President at GlaxoSmithKline and SmithKline Beecham. During this period, he served on the R&D Executive Committtee and was Senior Vice President, Healthcare Services R&D, Senior Vice President, Product Development Strategy, and Senior Vice President, Project, Portfolio and Alliance Management. Dr. Langer also served as President and CEO, Neose Pharmaceuticals, Inc., President, North America, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, and Managing Partner, Phoenix IP Ventures LLC, from which he retired in May, 2010. Dr. Langer also held senior commercial and R&D positions at Lilly, Abbott Laboratories and Searle.

Dr. Langer received a J.D. (cum laude) from Harvard University, an M.D. from Georgetown University, and a B.A. (Biology) from Columbia University. He is a Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Georgetown University School of Medicine.
